At Perfectly Bare Esthetics we offer an injectable fat-dissolving treatment, most commonly known for double chin reduction. It is a nonsurgical injection technique using a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid to reduce excess fat in unwanted areas on the face and body. It was approved by the FDA in 2015 and is a well-tolerated alternative to surgical procedures such as liposuction.
The process uses a series of deoxycholic acid injections to target fat cells in the treatment area. Once injected, the acid destroys fat cells within the region so it can’t store fat anymore. The acid works gradually to kill fat cells, which are then metabolized by the body over the following weeks. No incisions are made and downtime is minimal. Each session takes less than 30 minutes and the number of treatments varies from person to person. Multiple treatments could be necessary to achieve optimal results.
The best candidates are adults 18+ with moderate to severe fat. You can do up to 6 fat-dissolving treatments, with at least 1 month in between treatments. Common side effects do include swelling, bruising, redness, numbness and mild discomfort. Recovery process varies from patient to patient but usually involves very minimal downtime. Minor side effects subside usually within 1-2 weeks. Many who’ve received fat-dissolving treatments achieved visible results with just 1 treatment. Once the acid destroys fat cells in the area, the results should be lasting, and further treatment is not expected as the fat cells can no longer store fat.
