How do you prepare for a laser treatment?

**Prepping for Your Laser Treatment: A Guide by Joyce Bhutta**

Embarking on the journey of laser hair removal? How do you prepare for a laser treatment. Preparation is crucial for a successful and comfortable session. At Perfectly Bare Laser, Tampa MedSpa, we prioritize client education, ensuring you're informed every step of the way.

The science behind laser hair removal is fascinating. When we administer the treatment, the laser targets the hairs on the skin's surface. The energy from the laser is then absorbed by the hair, traveling down its length, reaching the bulb. It's this process that causes damage to the follicle, preventing future hair growth.

For optimal results, the hair should be short, ensuring the laser can efficiently pick up and travel down the hair. However, having longer hair growth is counterproductive, as the laser expends its energy on the surface hair, which doesn't contribute to long-term results.

So, what's the golden rule? We advise shaving the treatment area a day in advance. This ensures the hairs are short but also avoids the irritation that freshly shaved skin can present. Shaving essentially causes tiny superficial cuts, and if you laser immediately afterward, the rubbing from the treatment can exacerbate this irritation, making the process more uncomfortable.

However, facial hair, given its rapid and often dense growth, is an exception. For both men and women, we recommend shaving on the day of treatment to keep the hair as short as possible.

In essence, a bit of pre-treatment prep goes a long way in ensuring your laser session is efficient and comfortable. Always here to guide you, this is Joyce Bhutta from Perfectly Bare Laser, Tampa MedSpa, wishing you a smooth laser journey!
